Meet the Forest Side chef Kevin Tickle
Kevin Tickle is Cumbrian to the bone. Born on the West Coast his childhood was spent exploring local forests and windswept beaches, learning and understanding all they had to offer. For Kevin, foraging is not just a trend it’s a way of being, something he’s done all his life. Using local suppliers and supporting the rural economy is not a marketing gimmick but an obvious choice.
It is this unwavering drive to extract flavour from the Cumbrian Landscape that makes Kevin’s food so special, which results in menus that deliver truly unique taste combinations and a fantastic dining experience.
Kevin’s food is clean, modern and precise. To cook in this way requires the very freshest of ingredients. That’s why, we’ve re-built the kitchen garden at Forest Side in order to provide the very best quality for as much of the year as possible.
Out of season, Kevin uses techniques old and new to showcase the Cumbrian Larder by preserving, pickling and curing.

Forest Side is open for dinner every night of the week. We run our 6 course menu, ‘The l’al ‘un’ at £80 per person, and our 10 course tasting menu, ‘The grand ‘un’ at £105 per person.
We are now also open for lunch from Wednesday through to Sunday. For lunch time we offer two menus; our 3 course table d’hote, ‘The bait menu’ at £40 per person as well as our 6 course menu above at £80 per person.
