Experience New Year in the Lake District

There are worse ways to end one year and begin another than disappearing to Grasmere for three nights.

New Year at The Forest Side is a chance to step away from everything for a few days. Fires burning, winter walks from the door, plenty of wonderful things coming out of Paul’s kitchen and, when the time comes, a proper celebration to see in 2027.

Come for the food, stay for the party and start the New Year with absolutely nowhere you need to be.

Here’s how New Year unfolds at The Forest Side…

30th December

Arrive from 3pm, when we’ll welcome you with a glass of sparkling local mead and a mince pie or two. Settle into your room, find a spot by the fire and make yourself at home.

That evening, we’ll gather in the lounge for a glass of fizz and a little entertainment before moving through to the restaurant for a four-course dinner.

New Year’s Eve

Start the final day of 2026 slowly, with breakfast served at your leisure and the day ahead yours to enjoy. Head out into Grasmere and the fells, stay close to the fire or simply enjoy having nowhere else to be.

As evening arrives, the celebrations begin with fizz, snacks and live jazz before Paul and his team serve a special eight-course New Year’s Eve dinner.

After dinner, the band takes over and sees us through to midnight. Then it’s outside to the terrace for Champagne and fireworks over the grounds as we welcome in 2027 and then head back inside to carry on the celebrations.

New Year’s Day

There’s no hurry on New Year’s Day. Breakfast is a leisurely affair, followed by a day for walking, relaxing or joining our sommelier for a wine tasting.

We’ll bring out scones, cakes and tea during the afternoon, alongside our Quiz of the Year and a few board games for anyone feeling competitive.

In the evening, we’ll keep things deliberately relaxed with an informal supper Forest Side style, exactly what’s needed after the night before.

2nd January

One last breakfast at The Forest Side before it’s time to head home, hopefully well fed, well rested and ready for the year ahead.

Prices are per room for the three-night New Year stay and include breakfast and dinner each day, the eight-course New Year’s Eve dinner and all the food and drinks detailed above.*

Staying a little longer?
Add a night before or after New Year and we’ll take 10% off the additional night, subject to availability.

Booking & payment
We’ll hold a provisional booking for 14 days. A non-refundable deposit of £750 per room then confirms your stay, with the balance due by 1 November 2026. For bookings made after this date, full payment is required when booking.

Children
Children are very welcome. For rates for children sharing with two adults, including their meals and any cots, high chairs or extra beds required, please speak to our reception team.

Dogs
Dogs are welcome in six of our bedrooms at £25 per dog, per night.

*Wine, cocktails and other drinks are not included unless specifically mentioned above.
