The Lake District is better with a dog. From The Forest Side, you can step straight out of the door and into some of the best walking country in England, with Grasmere, Rydal, Loughrigg and the Langdales all waiting to be explored.
Closer to home, there are 43 acres of our own grounds and woodland to discover, so there’s plenty of space for a morning wander before breakfast or one last outing at the end of the day.
We have a number of dog-friendly bedrooms and welcome up to two well-behaved dogs per room. We’ll have a bed and bowls waiting for them, along with a few treats to help them settle in.
Dogs are very welcome to join you in the lounge and bar, so they don’t need to miss out when you settle in for a drink or spend a lazy afternoon by the fire. The only place we ask them not to join you is the restaurant.
If you’re wondering where to walk, just ask. Our team knows the surrounding fells, lakes and valleys well and can point you towards a route to suit you, whether that’s a gentle circuit from the door or something altogether more ambitious.
And for guests who prefer their holidays without dogs, every bedroom is thoroughly cleaned between stays. You shouldn’t be able to tell that a four-legged guest has ever been there.
