Bar Manager Pete King

Pete, a native of Buckinghamshire, migrated north to the Lake District in 2012, to immerse himself in the great outdoors, handy really as he just so happened to be studying for a degree in Outdoor Leadership with the University of Cumbria…

Prior to landing in the Lakes he had a few holiday bar jobs, one of particular note was a spell at the Utila Tree Top Bar in Honduras. This as you might imagine sparked a keen interest in bar management and led to him working at a number of watering holes in and around Ambleside during his studies. He did spells at Lucy’s On A Plate, Skelwith Bridge Hotel and the Golden Rule, all the while enhancing his bar knowledge and cocktail repertoire.

By 2015 he qualified with a degree and made a fairly momentous decision to pursue a different path as a bar manager at Fino, Ambleside, which took him up to spring 2016 and a new opportunity at Lily Bar, Ambleside,  as their Bar Manager, where he worked until 2017.

Pete then landed at Rothay Manor, Ambleside, making a pretty big impact introducing juice flights, a refined cocktail menu and interesting and diverse drinks pairing s  for the two AA rosetted restaurant. This as you might have guessed caught our attention and after a little gentle persuasion he decided to join the team at Forest Side as a Barman.

By early summer 2018 Pete had made a bit of an impact… and was promoted to the role of Bar Manager. Since then he has crafted a unique and pretty interesting cocktail and mocktail menu… His growing repertoire includes instant seasonal favourites such as… a Pea Shoot Martini, a Strawberry and Clotted Cream Negroni, an Elderflower Collins and a Seeds of Summer Mocktail.
