Opened in February 2014 by Kenny and Abbie Atkinson, House of Tides is a casual, informal fine dining restaurant with an emphasis on natural, seasonal & sustainable food.

House of tides is Newcastle’s only One Star Michelin and Four AA Rosette awarded restaurant.

Kenny Atkinson is a born & bred Geordie who has spent the first 12 years of his career training in some of the best restaurants in the UK.

In 2008 Kenny won his first Michelin star as head chef at St Martins in the Scilly isles.  The following year he returned to the mainland when he became head chef at the White Room restaurant within Seaham Hall in County Durham and again, won a Michelin star. Next he became executive chef at Rockliffe Hall near Darlington, County Durham, where he stayed from 2009 to 2013. Kenny has also become a well-known face on TV, from his appearances on the BBC 2’s The Great British Menu which he won this in two consecutive years, 2009 and 2010. More Recently you will have seen him alongside James Martin on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen & ITV Saturday Morning with James Martin, UKTV Foods Market Kitchen & Sky TV’s Perfect series.
